Wake Up Mr. President!!!

Someone needs to roust the president from whatever fundraiser event he is at tonight and let him know that there is a crisis underway. Tonight as I write this piece the black flag of Islam is flying over the United States Embassy in Tunisia after the compound was overrun and trashed by Muslim extremist in that Middle Eastern nation. Police pushed the intruders back and were left to do the best they could to protect the embassy against an extremely large group violent protesters. Tunisia isn't the only country where anti American violence is going on. American Embassies in twenty different countries are under siege tonight with no sign of let up in sight. Our president's lack of real leadership in this crisis is telling. There has been very little other than apologies and campaign appearances from Barrack Obama. If that isn't enough, the Marine Corp Fast response team sent to Cairo to protect The American Embassy ran into their own set of problems. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch.

As of tonight our ambassador to Libya and three others have been murdered in that countries. Multiple other deaths have been reported in other countries consumed by these latest attacks against America. Today we learn that President Obama called the Libyan president to thank him for his support. Really??? Support??? We have a dead ambassador and three other Americans who were killed in that country and he is thanking their president??? This nation is at a turning point. Over the last three years, there have been a lot questions about this man we elected president. The questions continue to come at a rapid fire pace, especially this week. Unfortunately, based on his behavior and the behavior of his administration we are getting a glimpse of what the future holds for us if Barrack Obama is re-elected. He has made it clear what his priorities are and with every day that passes, it is becoming clear that America's best interest and his priorites are not one in the same.

In the meantime, Americans are in harms way, our military has had its hands tied, and now the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI issued an alert to first responders in which they said the violence wwe've seen in the Middle East could spread to American soil. This whole thing is spinning out of control. Mr President, What are you going to do? Are you a real american or are you going to sell us out to the enemy? Sadly I think I know the answer. Fortunately we have an election coming and that's a problem we can correct.I know who I am voting for. Do you?

Til Next Time...............

Murtha Must Go! August 4, 2006

You've heard me speak before about the antics of Rep John Murtha (D) from Pennsylvania's 12th district. Those comments have been primarily confined to his left wing diatribes concerning the war in Iraq and the actions of some Marines on the ground there. After several weeks of listening to Murtha's rants on television, I decided to do some research into his three decades of political service that has followed his military career. I found quite a few interesting tidbits from a variety of sources including Murtha's own website, CNN, FOX NEWS, The American Spectator, Robert Novak, The United States Marine Corp Public Affairs Department, The Library of Congress, the offical website for the US House of Representatives, Wikipedia, some independent bloggers, Newsmax, and the website of one of his current opponnets in the upcoming election cycle.

Now most of us know about his comments concerning Marines killing Iraqi civillians in cold blood. He made the statement based on (he claims) a briefing with Marine Corp Commandant General Michael W Hagee. But wait.....According to General Hagee's Public Affairs Officer, that briefing didn't take place until well after Murtha's initial statement concerning the Marines in Iraq. Hmmm.......gives one pause for thought doesn't it? If not, the maybe you would also be interested in knowing way back in the late 70's/early 80's (long before any of us had heard the name John Murtha) Murtha was also an unindicted co-conspirator in the now infamous "ABSCAM" trial. HMMMM..........More food for thought.

In between Murtha has skated around the edges of more than one scandal, managing to fly under the radar screens and out of the headlines, thus firmly entrenching himself in the Washington cesspool as though his last name was Kennedy. Since 1995, Murtha has voted 11 times to raise his own pay while repeatedly voting against tax free health savings accounts and for other bills that ultimately resulted in higher health care costs for most Americans. He has voted several times to take money from social security to pay for pet projects. And despite his perceived reputation as being a friend to the military, he recently voted to cut funds intended for national defense by 76 billion dollars. He also has come out in favor of reinstituting the draft. Below are several links to other sources with lots of information concerning Murtha's activities both recent and from over the past 30 years. Some of it is positive. Much more is very disconcerting though. If you have the time.....check some of it out. It was a real eye opener for me. As you browse, pay particular attention to the references to Diana Irey. She is the Republican opponent for Murtha in the upcoming election cycle and from all appearances, she's getting a ton of nationwide support from the military community including financial donations from troops on the ground in Iraq and from folks just like you and me.

There is no doubt that John Murtha's service to this country as United States Marine is in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of military service in general. For his service to and sacrafice for America he should be honored without question. However being a "Good Marine" doesn't get you a free pass into "political sainthood." Somewhere along the way Murtha changed. After he took off the uniform, he became a different person. At times he says the right words, but his actions tell a different story. And at other times, even his words are spiteful, mean, and sometimes downright deceptive. When they cross that line, politicians still must be held accountable for their words and their actions. That's why I say "MURTHA MUST GO!!!"

Should voters re-elect John Murtha? (closed poll)

The Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant in the picture is Michael Burghardt, part of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team that is supporting 2nd Brigade 28th Infantry Division (Pennsylvania Army National Guard) in Iraq.

Look closely at the picture above and then click the link below to read the complete story about Gunnery Sergeant Burghardt.

Gunnery Sgt Michael Burghardt is an American Patriot in keeping with the greatest American military tradition. Many people including a huge community here on 360 would have you believe that we should crawl into a corner and cower in the hopes that the evil that wishes to destroy our society and wipe us out will just give up and go away. Unfortunately, in the "real world" it simply doesn't work that way. That's why Michael Burghardt and men like him are so important. As long as we have men like him on the front lines of the war on terror, America will be just fine.

A Little Perspective, July 24, 2006

Todd Heisler, The Rocky Mountain News
Second Place 2005 Picture of the Year International

The night before the burial of her husband's body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. "I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it," she said. "I think that's what he would have wanted."T

There are so many people in this country who still don't appreciate the sacrafices being made by those who serve in our armed forces both today around the world and in decades past. The fact that so many are oblivious is disappointing and infuriating at the same time. So for those of you out there who "still don't get it," here's a little perspective.............

Your alarm goes off. You hit the snooze button and sleep for another 10 minutes. He might have to stay up for three days at a time.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up in the morning, while he might have to go days or even weeks without running water.

You complain of a headache and call in sick while he gets shot at during the day. Some of his friends might get hit....he helps them and keeps moving forward.

You put on your "Anti War/I Don't Support the Troops" shirt and go meet up with your friends after stopping for a latte' while he continues to fight for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure your cell phone is in your pocket at all times...just in case. He clutches the cross hanging on the chain next to his dog tags...just in case.

You talk trash about your friends when they're not with you. He knows he might not see some of his buddies again....so every moment is important.

You walk down the beach or sidewalk staring at all the pretty girls. He walks down the street searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it was last week. He wears heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow in extreme heat......the likes most of us will never experience. And he does it everyday.

You go out to lunch and complain because they got your order wrong. He may not eat today. Supplies don't arrive until tomorrow.

Your maid makes your bed, washes your clothes, and makes sure that everything is just right. He might wear the same clothing for a month, but every single moment that weapon is clean and ready to go.

You go to the mall to get your hair done/cut. He hasn't been able to brush his teeth in two days.

You get angry because your class ran five minutes over. He was just told by his C.O. that he's being "held over in country" an extra six months.

You call your girlfriend to set a date for that night. He waits for mail call to see if there's a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend like you do everyday, many times taking her for granted. He holds that letter from home, smells it all week long.

You roll your eyes because the baby is crying. He gets letters with pictures of his newborn and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government chanting: War never solves anything! He see's the innocent tortured and killed by their own government and remembers why he's fighting.

You tell jokes about the war and make fun of the men. He hears gunfire and shelling, but still stands his post and does his job.

You see and (more importantly) are content with what the media want you to see and hear. He sees the reality and the carnage of death around him as he fights for you.

Your parents ask you to go to the store, but you whine about their request because you are so busy doing absolutely nothing. He does what he is told because it's his duty.

You stay at home in front of the tv...taking it easy. He takes the little free time he has to call and write home, sleep, eat, and take care of the necessities before doing it all over again tomorrow.

You crawl into your bed with the down pillow and comforter trying to get comfortable. He crawls underneath a tank for some shade and a five minute nap.

You sit there and judge him, saying the world is a worse place because of the wars he fights. We say the world would be a much better place if there were more men like him.

If you support our men and women......say so! They deserve our support more than any politician ever has or ever will. And they deserve to know they have our support now more than ever before.

For America's Heros on Armed Forces Day, May 20, 2006

Here's something I received today from a fellow veteran and thought it would be good to share with everyone on this Armed Forces Day!

For those who have laid in fox holes, carried guns, marched for hours,
For those who have had cold sleepless nights, endless days of discomfort,
For those who have endured the agony of war for my sake,

Thank you.

For those who have gently kissed a loved one goodbye,
and with a tear looked back for a last time,
For those who have found courageto carry the sword of liberty,
For those who have flown with the eagle,
For those who have landed on foreign soil,
Taking freedom to other countries while keeping freedom in ours,

Thank you.

For those who have lost limbs, lives and loved ones,
For those who have lost friends, sisters, brothers, mothers, and fathers,
For those who have sacrificed and gave their all for freedom's sake,

Thank you.

For those who have found the courage to stand,
For those who have reached out a hand for their fallen comrade,
For those who give freedom to strangers ,and a hope for peace,
For those who sacrifice all they love, and pay the price for freedom,

Thank you.

This Armed Forces Day....to all the veterans who have protected our nation and our freedoms through the years, to all the men and women still serving around the world today, to all the family members here at home who faithfully and patiently await their return, and to each and every American who has supported our men and women in uniform without question,

Thank you!!!

Because without you....none of what we have today would be possible!
