Fortunately, I have never had a problem with Aviophobia (fear of flying). If I were the type to be prone to these types of fears, these pictures would probably be enough to push me right over the edge.

Given that I work as a flight attendant, I see a lot of things that if known to the general flying public, would scare some to death. On the other hand, for the most part...the industry is staffed with professionals that do a tremendous job in keeping the traveling public safe. Just as in cars though, accidents happen..some beyond anyone's control. I won't get into the terrorist angle...that is enough to drive anyone nuts.
As for mode of travel...if I'm in a hurry, a plane is always what I'd pick, I love to fly (obviously). If I had the luxury of time...I love to take scenic road trips and think that some trips by train are wonderfully decadent in some cases and a unique way to experience a trip. At times, train travel is also faster than air in terms of delays for business.

Those are some amazing photos you have posted today.My son has been watching some videos on line on take-offs that are disasterous and let me tell you,I've only flown a couple of times.Generally I feel safe but that's only because I live in Canada. Enjoy your day and have a great week.Hugsss

I love to fly ..... So that would be my first choice of transportation.
But if I had all the time in the world I wouldn't mind driving taking in the sights and since I'm a photo addict it would be a wonderful opportunity for that as well. :)

Holy Crap! That's all I can say....Glad I live in Autralia. At least there are really strict Aviotic Laws. I'd fly in Australia, which I have, and only QANTAS internationally. I love driving though...at least you get to stop.LOL!

I've had a few hair-raising events connected with the air. My only rule now... no small planes. I don't trust civilian aircraft the way I did military aircraft but that is just me. Donna

Yeah, Julie! Looking at these, I thought to myself how glad I am that I didn't see these before my very first flight back in 2000!! My son's first flight was just last year and he was great! He loved it!

OMG- that is horrifying. I tell you- If I could take a car or train anywhere in the world I would. Unfortunatley- A car won't get you to Ireland from Michigan. lol- It sucks but it's true!

Great pics! Even after viewing those, my vote is still for flying. I can make the 18-hour car ride "back home" in 2 1/2 hours by plane. The choice is clear.
